Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born on 15 September 1915, in Ogden Utah. Reared in the Mormon Church's first family Fawn McKay directed her ingenious writing talents as well as her remarkable research skills to creating the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945, entitled No Man knows My History. This title is taken from the funeral sermon given by Joseph Smith who was the founder of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. His audience was shocked by his declaring: "You don't even know my name. You have never known the depths of my soul." Nobody knows my story. I'm not able to tell my story. Fawn an older woman, aged 29 said: "Since that moment of honesty at least three scores writers have taken on the challenge." A few people have even attempted to establish a medical diagnosis. Documents are not lacking and contradictory. It's a daunting task to put together these documents, separating first-hand accounts from the third-hand versions and then combining Mormon stories with other ones to form a cohesive collage. It is both interesting as well as an eye-opener. FawnBrodie took on this professional task with enthusiasm and energy. The fruits of her research and writing immortalized her with the world's attention: Thaddeus Stevens. Scourge of the South (1959) The Devil Drives. Thomas Jefferson. Richard Nixon and An Intimate Historiography (1974).
