Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children who would grow up with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of difficulties by using her rich and vivid imagination. Before she could write or read and compose herself songs. The guitar that she first received was presented to her at the age of eight. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. In high school, she made her name in the local community, yet she yearned for a larger stage. After graduating the high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart at the top of Monument Records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton accepted the role in 1966, she joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The band split in 1974 after her own hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. The song by Parton, I Will Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the number. 1 spot after they separated. This was the first time a song reached No.
