
Kate Hudson is an outstanding actor, well-known for her character Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which resulted in her receiving an Academy Award nomination. Born into a film family, Hudson was destined to be in the spotlight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actress and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She performed since beginning at a young age. Her parents made sure she was getting dance lessons, and she also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. Her first acting experience came in 1996 after she received a part in the TV drama Party of Five. The show was a success and she was admitted to New York University, however, Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business than obtaining an academic degree. After acting in minor films and commercials, she was offered the part that would turn into an important part of her career. She was selected to portray Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. Even though the film was unsuccessful at the box office it was well received by the critics and helped make Kate an international star in the American film industry.
